WhatsApp is working on several new features to improve the user experience on the platform. The Meta-owned instant messaging app recently rolled out features like chat lock and muting unknown callers for its mobile app. Now, moving on to its desktop users, the platform is reportedly rolling out a new enhanced update for the video and audio calling feature for the Windows app.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is gradually rolling out an update for the Windows desktop app that allows users to join video and audio calls with up to 32 persons. Reports suggest that the update is currently available for beta testers and users with WhatsApp beta update 2.23.24.1.0. A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows that some beta testers may have received a message inviting them to try out group calling. The message highlights the feature of making video calls to contacts and groups directly from the Windows app with support for up to 32 people.

Furthermore, the report suggests that with the new update, WhatsApp may also send a separate message to some users offering the ability to make video calls with up to 16 persons. The feature includes the option to share screen content during video calls, which was first announced in the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2322.1.0 update. Also, upon installing the latest app update, some beta testers may finally be granted access to video messages.

Whatsapp PIN Message Feature

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also working on other features to improve the security and experience of the users. One of the features is Pin Message. Spotted by Wabetainfo, the feature will allow users to pin messages in individual or group chats so that users can highlight important messages, similar to pinned chat features.

The report suggests that the feature is currently available for WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.11 and is expected to be released to everyone in a future app update. Once released to all users, the message pin duration feature will allow WhatsApp users to pin messages and even decide how long a message remains pinned in a chat.

Users will be able to set a duration, and after that time duration, the pinned message will automatically get unpinned. This feature will provide flexibility to the users by providing three options for the duration: 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days. Users will also have the freedom to manually unpin the message at any time, even before the chosen duration expires.
